The Desire Edition

Discussing Desire
by Jolan Bogdan

my brain seeks relief in complex articulation. what shall the topic be? shall we discuss desire, the flaming bitch banging on the window? or the silent bystander watching her lover being hunted? well not really.

desire is a wholly different matter. what is our philosophical framework? what is a philosophical framework? i seek to understand that feeling inside which tells you to sit still. shhh. quiet. if you keep your voice down no one will hear you. ah, yes. the voice. where is she to be found now a days. quite a complex little creature she is. sometimes very loud and full of rage. sometimes invisible. hum. an invisible voice. a visible voice. they seek definition.

but defining the thing merely kills it. and they are not dead!

plastic. we must all become plastic. eat more preservatives!

a pause

a space

we begin again

desire. yes. let me discuss it. i will discuss it with you. a poor substitute.

sometimes desire comes to me and presents itself with a soft glow around its edges. softer still. i reach out, seduced by its texture. let me stoke you, i say, finger nearly within reach. just a bit closer as it moves away. silently. i inch forward. shhh. make no noise. keep still. but closer still. i move in, creeping.

a rustle. a shake and the opportunity evaporates. back into the muggy friday sky. let no one lift a word against cliché. more often then not, it is the thing which keeps the bed warm in winter.
